Trend Tracking Vol. 6: Interstellar Style

As I’m sure you all know, today is the total solar eclipse!  This is really a once in a lifetime experience and I’m so excited to see it today.  As cheesy as it sounds, I’m due for another installment in my “Trend Tracking” series and I thought today it would be fun to do a post on interstellar inspired pieces in honor of the eclipse today.  If you haven’t read my last five “Trend Tracking” posts, be sure to check them out here!  Enjoy!

With the reincarnation of many ’90s trends, I’ve begun to see a lot of galactic pieces around.  You might think that sounds strange, but haven’t you seen the oh so popular star choker, necklaces holding crescent moons, and loads of metallic pieces (oddly enough metallic pieces kinda remind me of aliens and astronauts to be honest haha) lately?  I for one have been eyeing a gold star choker for quite some time.  I love this one from MAIVEJewelry on Etsy!  This gold crescent moon necklace from Happiness Boutique is a perfect layering piece and would look great with your favorite choker or a Kendra Scott necklace!  I’ve been loving lariat-style necklaces recently and this one from Forever 21 with two gold crescent moons is too cute (and under $5.00)!  Hoops have definitely grown on me over the past couple years and I think this star shaped pair from Free People is too fun!  Kate Spade has an adorable collection of star sign bangles, check them all out here!  V-line cutouts in crewneck tees have been super trendy lately, and this army green tank with that cutout and gold stars printed all over would be so fun to style with some ripped jeans and white sneakers for an edgier look.  Speaking of stars, the shoe boutique I work at carries these gorgeous star embroidered taupe suede booties from Jeffrey Campbell and I’ve been practically drooling over them since we got them in the spring.  You all know that I love some metallic shoes, my favorites being this pair of rose high top Converse sneakers (I have them in gold but isn’t the rose gold too pretty?).  All of the pieces mentioned are pictured and linked below!  Click on one you like to shop!

Trend Tracking Vol. 5: Lace Up Love

I would say that lace up everything began to appear around last spring.  Lace up sandals, lace up tops, lace up dresses, lace up flats, lace up boots and more have become all the rage.  This post is another installment of my trend based series, “Trend Tracking.”  In these posts I choose a trend and feature a few of my favorite pieces that incorporate that particular trend.  Click here to read all of my previous “Trend Tracking” posts!  Today I’m talking lace up everything.  Let’s get into it, shall we?

My very first lace up purchase was a pair of simple brown faux leather sandals from Target last year.  I guess everyone loves these versatile and trendy sandals as much as I do, because Target still carries them here in black, brown, and gold.  Target now also carries this pair with a small, chunky heel and faux suede lace up ties (they look exactly like this more expensive pair from Steve Madden!).  I also adore this fun pair of Sam Edelman lace up sandals, complete with embroidery, pom poms, and beads.  Knowing how much I love the color blush pink, it’s really no surprise that I’m obsessed with these blush pink H&M lace up espadrilles.  Lace up tops have also become super common lately and I have to say, I love it.  Old Navy carries a few cute ones, including this black and white striped slub-knit tee and this black ruffled short sleeve.  I love this lace up sweatshirt from Forever 21, it’s super trendy with it’s lace  up v-neck and high-low waistline, but also looks really comfortable.  This white tee from H&M has lace up detailing along the sides of the shirt and I love it (also, the top comes in black and grey too and is under $20!).  Lace up dresses have been just as trendy as lace up tops.  This red one from Madewell looks soft and casual, but I think it could easily be dressed up with a pair of wedges!  This mauve number with a lace up back from Forever 21 could also easily look a lot more expensive than it is if you wear the right shoes.  As usual, all of the pieces mentioned are pictured and linked below!  Click on one you like to shop!

Trend Tracking Vol. 4; Darling Denim Skirts

Long gone are the days when jean skirts were reserved for our embarrassing elementary school pictures, denim skirts are back!  In today’s installment of my “Trend Tracking” series, I’m talking all about, you guessed it, denim skirts.  I just love how many ways denim skirts can be styled and how much they match!  Let’s get started!

My two favorite denim skirts that I’ve found online are this simple button down number from H&M and this one from Topshop with pretty embroidered roses.  A bit of a different take on the denim skirt trend would be this one from Loft which is more of a wrap style.  Two more that I love from Loft include this one with a center seam and an unpicked hem and this one with lace up detailing in the front and pockets in the back.  Two that I particularly love from Gap are this one which is dark wash and buttons down in the front and this one which is a lighter wash, considerably looser than most of the trendy denim skirts, and comes with a matching denim tie belt.  Forever 21 also carries a ton of denim skirts.  A few of the most notable include this daisy-embroidered skirt with a frayed hem, this denim skirt made up of frayed tiers, and this one with a silver exposed zipper in the front and sides that are a darker wash denim than the rest of the skirt.  I also love this embroidered denim skirt and this one with an exposed gold side zipper from Free People.  All of the skirts mentioned are pictured and linked below!  Click on one you like to shop!

Trend Tracking Vol. 3: Off the Shoulder Obsessed

Trends are typically thought of as synonymical for fads, but occasionally, a simple, classic trend will roll around.  Today I’m talking all about my recent favorite “classy trend” in another installment of my “Trend Tracking” series.  In these posts I choose a trend that I like and link a few of my favorite pieces which follow that trend, read the previous two here and here!  Let’s get on with it!

I first began to see off the shoulder tops and dresses last summer.  While it sometimes takes me a while to get used to or accept a trend, I immediately loved off the shoulder pieces.  As I said before, this trend is definitely among the most classy, ladylike I’ve seen in a while.  So much so, even iconic “preppy” brands like Lilly Pulitzer have picked up on it.  I love the bell sleeves and ocean inspired print on this silk Lilly Pulitzer off the shoulder top and it’s so perfect for upcoming summer nights!  This pink printed knit top from Lilly is another gorgeous off the shoulder option.  One of my favorite off the shoulder tops that I’ve come across recently is this one from Forever 21, complete with embroidery, pom poms, loose sleeves, and the prettiest light pink hue.  This one from J.Crew is in a classic navy gingham print and has cute little ties at the sleeves. Another one of my favorites is this simple white top from Loft with bell sleeves and embroidery around the hemlines.  Old Navy has also caught on to the trend and carries this pretty blue and white pinstripe off the shoulder style and couple other styles including this simple off the shoulder top with an embroidered ruffle that comes in both black and white.  This relaxed, drapey-sleeved navy and white stripe top from Gap is another super cute option.  Off the shoulder dresses are just as worthy of adoration.  Forever 21 carries two of my favorites; this denim dress with a ruffle lined with colorful tassels and this floral mauve number.  This navy silk Lilly Pulitzer dress is in the prettiest painted floral print (possibly my favorite Lilly print this season, actually).  This coral Gap dress features pretty eyelet detailing and a flattering waist tie.  I also love this grey mineral wash romper with an off the shoulder ruffle and drawstring waist from Forever 21!  All of the pieces mentioned are pictured and linked below!  Click on an item you like to shop!

Trend Tracking Vol. 2: Chic Sneaks

It’s time for another installment in my new trend-based series, “Trend Tracking!”  Find my first “Trend Tracking” post here.  This month I chose one of my absolute favorite trends, stylish sneakers.  Every shoe mentioned will be linked in the paragraph as well as in its respective picture below.  Enjoy!

I love dressing up a chic tennis shoe and I always draw inspiration on this trend while traveling.  I’m sure you’ve seen the oh so popular Adidas Superstars, I saw them for the first time when I was in Texas last summer and I’ve been dying to get my hands on a pair ever since.  Another shoe that I see a lot while traveling and at concerts are high top Vans.  I’m honestly not so sure that I could pull these off, but I think this light grey pair and this light pink pair are so cute.  I also love New Balance sneakers, I’ve recently been eyeing this pair which are light pink and cream and this beige and mauve pair with an iridescent gold ankle.  I especially adore any metallic shoes, like these rose gold Converse high tops, and these grey Nikes with the rose gold swoosh (my little sister has this pair and I’ve been borrowing them like crazy), this pair of Adidas Stan Smiths with a rose gold ankle, and this pair of white and gold New Balance for J.Crew sneakers (which I have and wear nonstop).  Another pair of sneakers I’ve been eyeing recently are these cream colored Nike Air Max Thea Ultra SIs which are super simple and classic and I think they’d be the perfect addition to any “athleisure” look.  All of the shoes mentioned are pictured and linked below!  Click on a pair you like to shop!

Trend Tracking Vol. 1: One Piece Wonders

As a fashion blogger and someone who generally just loves all things stylish, I love to try new trends.  Today I’m starting what will hopefully become a monthly series; “Trend Tracking.”  In each of these posts, I will choose a trend I like and link a round-up of my favorite pieces which follow this particular trend.  Without further adieu, let’s get started!

I’m sure that many of you, like me, are preparing to go on spring break this month, or maybe you’ve already had spring break but are still on the lookout for a good swimsuit for the summer.  The vast majority of spring break trips seem to be to somewhere tropical, so I figured one piece swimsuits would be the perfect trend to feature this month!

Ah, the one piece.  Up until a year or so ago, they seemed to be somewhat designated for moms and young girls.  I’m sure you’ve noticed the number of one pieces on the beach and by the pool over the past couple years skyrocketing.  Recently, some of my favorite stores including J.Crew, Old Navy, Forever 21, Gap, Target, and H&M have started to carry more cute and flattering one pieces.  I love this simple navy number from J.Crew with a scalloped v-neck.  This black and green palm printed suit from old navy looks super supportive and has a pretty open back (it has a clasping strap where that of a bikini would be, but aside from that it’s decently low-cut).  Another favorite Old Navy suit of mine is this teal suit with a fun triangular cut out below the high neckline.  I absolutely adore this black and white striped H&M suit with a flattering wrap around the midsection.  Another cute option from H&M is this black one with a big bow on top!  This one from Gap has the prettiest blue mosaic pattern plus the straps cross and tie in the back.  This off-white one piece from Forever 21 has some mesh striping in the middle and criss cross straps in the back, how fun!  Target carries a ton of one pieces, my personal favorite being this one with a wrapped halter neckline and red, white, and blue watercolor striping.  Last, but certainly not least, I found this adorable navy gingham one shoulder suit from Banana Republic which I think would be so cute with a big floppy straw hat on the beach.  All of the one pieces mentioned are pictured and linked below!  Click on a suit you like to shop!
